Volunteers are vital to the work of The Salvation Army. Your valuable skills and fresh perspective will make a difference for our community. Whether it's helpin children with their homework, leading beautification projects, or serving holiday meals to the homeless, you help us in 'Doing the Most Good' by helping those who are truly in need.
Current Volunteer Opportunities:
At The Salvation Army, donating your time can go a long way towards helping your community. Throughout the year we provide many resources to those in need including food, personal items, clothing, toys, and bill assistance. During Christmas we are able to provide toys and food vouchers to thousands of families and individuals. Our major fundraising is done through our Red Kettle Christmas Campaign, otherwise known as Bell Ringing. In 2013, we were able to provide over 1500 vouchers for Christmas dinners and gave presents to over 2900 children, who would have otherwise gone without. Our 2014 Kettle Campaign goal is $275,000. We can only reach this goal with your help!
We are currently looking for volunteers to ring bells at one of our over 35 kettle locations around Saginaw County. We ring bells Monday through Saturday from 10am to 8pm starting on Friday, November 14 up until Christmas Eve, December 24. You can sign up by yourself, with your family, or even with a group. Whether you can donate two hours of your time or you would like to sign up for an entire day, you can help raise the money to support your community all year long! We have thousands of shifts available, and our kettles are most effective at raising these essential funds when a volunteer is present, so we need YOU!
